OMG! Thank you for the update- I am going to reserve this book immediately! AND dig out my copy of Open Arms and reread it, I forgot how much I loved that book!
I read all of last year's Giller Prize nominees for fiction out of desperation for a good read- they were all of them very good even if not all something that I would normally read. Elizabeth Hay's "Late Nights on Air" was a nominee, which I particularly enjoyed (though I know people who despised it) and M.G. Vassanji's "The Assassin's Song", also a nominee, was an incredible read- one of the best books I have read in and definitely on my own short list.
